The Indian Institute of Technology are among India’s most
prestigious institutions offering engineering and
technological education of internationally recognized
standard of excellence. The environment at these
institutions is highly conductive for:
• Development of solid foundation of knowledge and
personality.
• Confidence building.
• Pursuit of excellence and self discipline.
• Enhancement of creativity through motivation and drive,
which helps to produce professionals well trained for the
rigorous of the job/society.
The seven IITs at Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur,
Kharagpur, Mumbai and Roorkee, IT-BHU at Varanasi and ISM at
Dhanbad offer courses leading to Bachelor’s Degree in a
number of engineering, technological and scientific
disciplines. M.Sc. integrated course in pure and applied
science and M.Tech. integrated courses in a few disciplines
are also offered by some of these institutes. In addition,
some IITs offer dual-degree M.Tech. programme wherein at the
end of the programme, both B.Tech. and M.Tech. degrees are
awarded to the successful candidates.
IIT JEE is an examination with difference. All it requires
is a proper examination temperament and different approach
to the subject than most of the other exams.
From the year 1999 - 2000 a new pattern has been introduced
for IIT JEE. This new pattern consists of two stages.
STAGE-I :
This stage has a screening paper of three hours, on second
Sunday of December every year (This year its on 9th
December). Screening test will contain 105 objective type
questions, 35 each in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
STAGE-II :
i.e. the main examination which probably be conducted on 1st
or 2nd Sunday of May of the following year. Only those
students who clear the screening paper (Stage-I exam) are
allowed to sit for this exam. Main paper will have 3 session
of 2 hrs. each on Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics. All the
three exams will be held on a single day.
Candidates can opt for question papers either in English or
in Hindi. The candidates are permitted to write answers in
the Main Examination in any one of the following languages:
Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Tamil and
Telugu. Candidate answering the JEE in more than one
language or in a language other than his/her original choice
will attract disqualification.
It's a highly competitive examination. About 1.2 lacs
students sit for screening examination and 15000 will be
selected for the mains. Finally 3200 will be listed for IIT
and other allied colleges, including BHU, ISM Dhanbad & TS
Chankya Institute of Marine Engineering.
What is needed for IIT JEE is planned, analytical approach
which develops knowledge of the subject besides the problem
solving skills to have an optimum success.
